First Session

I did a thing today! I’m proud of myself. Today I moved opposite of the stigma attached to therapy within the African American community. I had my first session with an AMAZING therapist and I couldn’t be more excited about what’s to come! For some time now I’ve vocalized the desire, but hadn’t moved on…

3 am Thoughts

My life… Your life… All of our lives are comprised of a multitude of experiences. Each experience lending way for elevation and wisdom as we beautifully and divinely unfold. Appreciate every experience. Find the essentiality in each of them; understanding that everything is happening FOR YOU. There is always a greater plan at play even…

Bubbles

As I relax in a bubble filled bath, I also simultaneously check off a few of the boxes from my JOY LIST I’ve created for myself. What is a joy list you ask?? lol Don’t mind if I do! Well… I decided to make a list of things that I can do for myself that…

Acceptance

This morning my meditation took me to a place of acceptance. More specifically, the significance and value of accepting every moment knowing that it is what it is. That’s right. IT IS WHAT IS IS. Anyone dare to argue? Lol Once you’ve arrived at any given moment in your life… once you’re standing (or sitting)…

Who raised you?

Have you ever said something and immediately after realized that you’ve grown beyond that statement. It could even be that in that moment you had a light bulb to pop on. Perhaps buried beneath that utter was a belief that you once had or maybe just something you’d say out of habit. No matter what…

Post Worthy

So a few questions just came up in a group chat between my cousins and I. I decided to make my answer a blog post. My answer: My dopest accomplishment was walking in my truth. In alignment with that truth. This required me to be brave. It required me to BELIEVE IN ME. I learned…

17 weeks and counting…

Seventeen weeks ago, I made a decision that turned into a lifestyle change. After being tired of the extreme bloat that accompanied any dairy meal or product I consumed, I decided to detox for a week. During this week I would only eat vegetation. I would take on a vegan diet for the entire week. This didn’t seem like a difficult task for me being that I’d done two 20-day raw vegan detoxes before. What’s a week at this point? I felt my body needed a break and this was my attempt at giving it one. Well one week turned into two. Two into three. Before you know know it, I was 8 weeks in and not missing meat AT ALL. That is, until I heard someone mention fried fish. I then decided that I’d sparingly reincorporate seafood into my diet. What does “sparingly” look like? Well for me it was eating seafood on the weekends and also if I were outside dining and decided that’s what I wanted, that is what I would have. That worked for me up until about 2 weeks ago when I decided to remove seafood from my diet again. I am now back to eating 100% plant based. Today makes 17 weeks since that first week. With this change came a lot of questions. I will answer a few…

Dead Locs

Last week I cut my locs off. Yep, after 5 years, I decided to cut them all off. For some this may be shocking, but if you knew me prior to my locs, it likely will not come as a surprise to you at all. In fact, a lot of people were surprised that I…

Becoming

I haven’t always been teachable. I’ve been prideful, stubborn and often times defensive. I have not always been a great listener. I AM becoming the woman God intended for me to be. That’s it. Just a little self reflection. Carry on! Lol
